I'm mad every time I see this kind of case. We bought two horses from an auction a couple of days ago. The auction was held by an important equestrian center in my area because they want to get rid of their unneeded horses.
They have some great horses there that they use in competition. Those horses are in a great shape. But they have a couple of old and unwanted horses that they keep in horrible conditions. I can't understand how it's possible. It's not the first horse that we took from them. But this time I'm almost shocked.
It's hard to believe that someone could go at this equestrian center and see this horses without being scandalized. But it's possible and they see this thing as completely normal. Because they are old so it's normal for them to look like this.
It's normal to be kept in a stall without turnout, and without shavings. It's normal for the horses to be so skinny, full of mud and feces, and full of lice.
We are happy that we took them. But I'm very mad on this people. Those were horses used with great success in competition representing my country. They weren't useless in their days. But now they are useless and they are treated without any kind of respect.
Now let's see the horses.
Marian, Thoroughbred, 32 years old. Full of lice, very very skinny and blind in one eye. He was a great competition and school horse. He was retired at 30 years old
and then left to starve. 1.jpg 2.jpg
He is very talkative and sweet. 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg
Biruitor, Romanian Sport Horse, 22 years old. He looks better than Marian. He had horrible feet but the farrier took care of them. He is full of mud on his belly and I can't wash him yet to get rid of it. He was kept without shavings in his stall. 7.jpg
He has a great trot from what I can see. We want to use him at riding later on on he will gain weight. 8.jpg
The halter is to big for him but it's the only one that we have big enough for his huge head. The halter is x full size because someone mistaken it as a full size. 9.jpg 10.jpg
