Went for a little ride on Thumper today! He was a little distracted because it was only our second time doing anything more than a little trotting in the outdoor since last fall (we've done walking and trotting only one other time). He was great! He started out a bit hollow and tense, but I think it was more because he was taking in the sights, sounds, and smells up there, rather than him being nervous or just plain strong, as usual. He was great, especially after we did some turn on the forehand, leg-yields, and shoulder-in (still working on lateral movements though!). And then I did my daily dose of no stirrup work :).
Oh, and he finally was able to get some turnout time today! He's been on stall rest for a while. Anyway, enjoy!
By the way, do you like our matching clothes? Haha : D.
^This is where we started, and then towards the end he began to soften his jaw! It's amazing how much we've both improved since last summer!
^Cantering in a semi-two-point/half-seat to get him to loosen up his back and stretch out a bit
Leg-yielding- he's kind of dull to my leg aids and slow to move off of my leg (only during lateral work, though!), so these definitely need some fine-tuning!
No-stirrups- he was a bit strong at the canter haha.
We have matching expressions! Haha as you can tell, we are both dorks :P
Cutie pie <3
^My favorite :)
