Possible new baby.

I posted these pix on the foal watch but I also thought I should probably post them here as well. This is a colt that we might (probably will) end up with. Dad and I both say we don't need another horse but Step-Mom is dead set on bringing him home so we will see. I say we don't need another horse but I wouldn't complain if we got him either. He is about a month and a half old at this point. Just before John was gelded last year, he managed his way over the fence an in with the neighbor's horses. While he was there, he covered their breeding stock paint mare. Thankfully, they weren't mad about it and were actually looking forward to the baby but since then, their personal situation has changed and they are having to get out of horses. The owner has decided that she won't sell the mare until the baby is weaning age so we'll see whats what after that.

Anyway, enough of my blabbering. On to the pix. Let me know what color you think he will be please. I am hoping for black like John but I am wondering about maybe brown or dark bay.

He is not this over at the knee, he was standing wonky in this pic.

He is a very sweet and personable little booger but if we get him, I am glad we will be getting him as a weanling. Those poor folks know nothing about training horses and all of theirs are spoiled and disrespectful. The only thing that really bothers me about him is that he is really cow-hocked but I am hoping that he will grow out of that. Any suggestions from someone with more experience? If they are cow-hocked to the point that their hocks rub together when they walk, what are the odds that they will grow out of that? On a better note, he has the most darling little ears. He definitely got his ears from John, they are so petite and refined. Strange that I associate anything petite and refined with a percheron LOL.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

I don't think you'll be getting a black baby out of him, my guess would be a dark bay/seal bay. Don't know anything about the cow-hocks :\ Keep my fingers cross for you! he looks precious <3

That is going to be super exciting if you guys get him. Definitely keep us posted and hoping for some better pictures! As for his color, it looks like he's got almost all the black points to make him a bay, so thats what my vote is going to be.

I would think a dark seal or bay as well. I think he's adorable and sure hope you get him since he's a baby of John's! I will be super excited to watch him grow up!!!

I think he'll grow out of it... I've seen alot of foals that were really cow hocked but turned out just fine.

I think you should get him even if he doesn't grow out of it, because its better you than someone who may not care for him well! Plus, he's the offspring of your gorgeous, now-gelded guy! :)

I LOVE thicker foals like this, so huggable!
