    R.I.P FLAME

This is my mare Delta's foal. She was born after a storm and was too weak to survive. She was three weeks premmie and never made it to her feet on her own. She was born on the 5th of Jan at about 4am and died on the 6th of Jan at about 3pm.

Here are some piccies of her (and delta mommy)

Awww, I'm sorry to hear about Delta's Flame. He was a cute baby but looking severely underweight. *sniff, sniff*

Yeah I know I've had to wait awhile before I've put it up. I dunno, maybe there was more we could have done but her backlegs if you looks closely were put in bandages coz the ligaments had strengthen yet, so even if we could have got her drinking reliably and putting on weight she might never have been useable because of her backlegs.

But that's the second time in a row that Delta has lost a foal and when her owner rang me he talked about sending her to the doggers. NOOOOOO!!!!

But thankfully he's got off that topic PHEW!! And talked about trying for third time lucky, but I'm going to see if I can get him to wait 18 months, let her body recouperate coz he only waited about nine months between Flame and Excalibur (the other foal she lost). Fingers crossed.

But what ticked me off was how patronising the vet was. She was like 'oh its all good, its winnable, blah, blah, blah' to me but then she had a long chat with the owner and told him 'that foal is highly unlikely to survive no matter what you do.' which he told me when he rang and said it died.

Its like I'm 17 this year, I can handle it!! I've lost my father I'm not gona go jump off a cliff!!!
