Ruger and Selena, a day at the races!

Yep, took my babies to the races today :)

I decided not to run Ruger in the race because he was feeling uber-fresh, and I just wanted to get him there for the experience anyway. I didn't really want to spend the entry fee if he was gonna be a brat, so I just loped the pattern a couple times in the warmup pen. He did pretty good!

Selena did excellent too...She did a lot of work with a lot of success, I mean we hit a barrel in one run but she was DEVASTATED....She totally knew we made a mistake. lol It was kinda cute.

Anywho, pictures:

At the trailer:

Messed around with Selena some in the halter, pure laziness....I had a LONGGG wait in between two races so I wanted to ride but getting my bridle was too much work. She did good though, we actually loped the barrel pattern like that

Andddd towards the end of the race, Ruger being hosed off :) It got around eighty degrees today and in the hot sun with little breeze, the horse's were working and SWEATING! I actually hosed Selena off between races and she was dry within five minutes in the sun. Ridiculously hot....and Mom and I are both sunburned!

That's it for now....I want to spend a day just doing some action shots with Selena and Ruger, because I came to the realization that I have next to none....lol

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

Awww thanks :) I look like a raccoon now though from being in the sun all day with glasses on, LOL. Poor Ruger's nose is fried too, even with sunscreen.
