Scary tarps

Please don't tell him he's supposed to be afraid of them...

(^ik his bell boot is twisted and the lumpy tarp is lifting it up higher)

Today I wanted to change things up from our usual routine and thought I'd spend the day desensitizing him to random "scary" things but he hasn't spooked at anything since I've brought him home. If something startles him he stands very still and stares and moves closer to investigate and then gets over it. He was staring at a bright pink children's sled outside the barn so I put it in the arena with him and he stood there staring and flaring his nostrils, but he moved closer after a second or two and started pushing it around and licking it and even picked it up with his mouth and tried to run away with it...lol. I then put it on a lunge rope and dragged it around behind us and he wasn't too sure about that at first and walked a little faster but no spook. He started to forget it was there after a minute or two. He's such a good boy, he's going to make me a great little trail horse. :)

What a curious little cutie - and a very calm, level-headed boy too!

Thanks everyone, he's a very good boy. I'm excited to take him trail riding this summer!
