Duke and I went to a schooling show today and we did fairly well, Placed 2nd and 3rd with scores of 61 and 62. He's 21 and his movements not what it used to be and he can be fairly stiff; so we always get lower marks in the movement/suppleness areas. But I'm not complaining he's great to learn on. My trainer was the judge so I was a littler nervous, it was my first time not having her with me in warm ups with this horse.
It was quite an eventful dressage show regarding falls. A little boy fell off his pony in the morning and a little girl fell off in the afternoon. After she fell her pony deiced to take a few laps around the huge arena at a gallop, jumped in and out of the dressage arena a few times and then proceeded to get her reins caught around her leg before she slowed down enough for someone to catch her. Thankfully all horses and riders came away fine, maybe just a few bruised confidence levels here and there.
There were so many ponies/smaller horses at the show today, Duke was the largest horse there, I was terrified I would run over these little kids and their ponies in the warm up ring. Some literally came up to the bottom of Dukes shoulder. And he's only 16.3-17hh.
standing at the show ring, looking 1 of the the warm up rings, the grass area the barn we were stabled at.
Lol my mom took the picture between the boards of the wall for some reason.
Itchy nose
He spent the first half hour calling to his neighbors. Very vocal horse.
It took them forever to ring the darn bell.
and still waiting
awwwkward timing...
Terrible halt.
The next three are from yesterday when I was out at the barn grooming.
Sihr Amiir
Sihr Amiir again
Muffin, literally the meanest horse in the barn.
