Spighi photo update

Another mass photo drop of my little champ! I can't help myself, I am so proud of the progress he's made in the last 8 months. Going from a fat, unmuscled pasture puff with a woolly coat, to being fit, shiny and working up a storm.

Lesson with Hayley Beresford last week -

And tonight's ride (after a week off, in gale force winds - we had a few spooks!!)

Counter canter - it has taken a while, but I'm finally able to start pushing some buttons and playing with 'gears' in counter canter

And 'tickling' some half pass. I am not asking for much bend at this point, just juggling between half pass and leg yield down the centre line. But he is getting stronger very quickly, and is getting a better and better crossing of his legs each time I 'play' with the movement.

He's not easy by a long shot, can get extremely tense and anxious, one minute we'll be in shoulder in down the 1/4 line, the next we've spun around cat leaping and having a right old tantrum. But he can be so lovely to ride that its worth pushing through, and his spooking is getting easier and easier to deal with. Maybe he's finally growing a real brain, at 11 years old?

Lovely photos, although the cheeky side of me must ask what the maneuver in the second pic is! Lol! He is a nice size for you though!
I've just started doing more counter canter with my horse....we are both sweating when we've finished!

So lovely!!! :) Your horse's spooks are so mild (photographically) than I was expecting! He should rid himself of that habit soon enough :)

Looking wonderful yourself, Kayty!
