Starting to Look like a Grown Up!

I feel like every month I take new photos of Rodeo, there is some kind of obvious change in how he is growing. I took new photos yesterday, as I wasnt sure if I was going to remember my camera the next few times I went out, and I seem to take photos the same time of every month.
But this month, he is still butt high by a good 2in or so, but I feel like his withers are getting more and more prominent. I know a few months ago I was asking everyone if he appeared mutton withered, but the older he gets the more they seem to stick out! Ill be honest though, in the first two photos, there is something about his neck and head I dont like at all, his neck appears thick to me, and his head seems too small, but then again that just might be his winter woolies playing tricks on my eyes.

Anyways here are pics of Rodeo at just 3days short of his 23month mark!

Headshots

And here are a few of Starbucks, the TWH I ride, he stands really really strangely just about all of the time. Hes either parked out, or standing in some other goofy position.

Enjoy :D

Same here! ****....I cannot wait until he is officially done, although I am enjoying watching him grow :)

I was told once, look at a horse at 3 days old, three months and three years, and ignore their looks in between lol. for his age he looks pretty good, but keep an open mind, my filly is the same age and I think she looks hilarios right now :p
Ive heard that saying as well! I like it ;)....lol he looks pretty goofy as well. Some days I go out, and I think hes looking really good, and then the next day Ill go out, and he will look awfully funny, growing horses sure are interesting!

He is SO handsome. And as a side note...I wish there was grass here in Alberta :(
Thank you! The grass is just starting to grow back here, although outside of the pastures its as green as can be!

He IS woolly!! I couldn't believe the amount of hair on his face and the bridge of his nose.
Oh my gosh I know!! He was like that when I first got him, but back then we were living in West Virginia, and it was cold. I think the coldest day here in NC where I am at, was maybe 40*F....at night the coldest it got, was I believe 34*F. So I have no idea why he is so fuzzy! lol

Thank you! Im hoping he grows up to look pretty decent!

What a lovely boy he is :)
And don't worry about the goofy conformation - you've seen pictures of my Billy looking hilarious at 16months!!!
My friend said to me last night, that he reminds her of an Ethiopian child, scrawny legs and neck, with a big head and a big belly, poor Billy!!!!!
Haha oh my, at least your friend doesnt hold anything back, or sugar coat their thoughts for you! lol I think Billy is looking great! Its so funny to see and be able to compare how different horses grow up!

There's our Rodeo! :-D

I think the weirdness in his neck/head that you're seeing in those first two pics is 'cuz you're not exactly perpendicular to his side, but your right shoulder (as you're taking the pic) is turned slightly toward his butt. I've noticed that the lightest bit off perpendicular when taking pics makes for some wonky photos. lol

Just remember all the funky, gawkward (my new word...combine gawky and awkward!) pics of Aires. :-p He really doesn't look THAT gawkward in person, I swear, so I'm sure the same is true of Rodeo.
You know what, your def right! Thats a very good point! Some shots he looks great, but if Im not at the right angle, any shot will look horrid! lol Funny you should say that Aires looks better in person, thats the exact way I feel about Rodeo!

Love the new "gawkward" ****!!

I was actually just looking at the pics I took after our ride on Sunday and thinking how horribly gawkward Aires looks...but then I saw him today and he's actually looking REALLY good. Not nearly as butt-high as he was a few weeks ago and starting to look more like a "man." One thing I've noticed about pics of Aires is that they make him look shorter and stouter than he actually is. We're fast-approaching 16.2hh and yet all the pics I have of him make him look maybe 15-something.

Thats how it is with Rodeo too. Every now and then I will get a photo that actually looks like him in person, but for the most part, the photos dont completely look like how he actually is. Rodeo isnt very tall, he is still a hair or so under 15hh, and out in the pasture next to the other horses he looks very pony like and tiny! lol

I agree though, I know Aires is tall, but in the photos he looks short and stocky! Strange how photos can alter things so much!

He looks good to me, such a handsome boy!!
Thank you!! Still cant believe he will be 2 in just a month. Hes grown and matured so much since Ive gotten him....bu thanks! I think he is looking good too!

What a STUNNING boy. I can't wait until he's older, I'm looking forward to seeing him :).
Aww thank you!! Same here! I am so anxious to see how he will mature!
