Yeah, it's real. We had these storm heads come over the farm and it mixed in with clear patches. This photo is a HDR which makes the picture look more like the human eye sees it instead of one exposure from a normal camera. Basically the HDR takes multiple exposure (It's called bracketing in photography terms) and then it combines the multiple exposures. The result is what you see.
