Sundance's work

Haven't just posted pics of him in a while and we worked him Friday and Saturday and got pics so thought I'd share.

Friday I worked him over some jumps and got him crossing water and going into the pond while being lunged. That was about 45 minutes and then when the hubby got off work he rode and because Sundance was being ornery and stubborn about it; not wanting to stop, rearing, throwing a hissy fit to get back to Chanti, etc, he got rode about 30 minutes, then lunged another 15 then rode another 20 so by the time we were done he was lathered but listening.
Yesterday hubby got on and he must have remembered the previous day because he was an angel again, walking quietly, stopping immediately, not caring about leaving Chanti, etc.
I've been working him 1-2 times a week along with hubby riding him about 1-3 times a week. I have been having him trot over poles and go up and down hills and through water to build muscle. I think he's starting to look better. Hopefully after he's gelded he'll bulk up a little.

But anyway, here's Sundance.

Saturday

Friday..after being rode once and lunged because he wasn't listening. Doing a lot better here.

Friday before being rode

After being lunged a little Friday

Splashing through the pond

He also pulls logs, light ones, and I'd like to get him started on cattle but we don't have any to work with.

Our neighbours used to have a mare named Sundance :) Well that was my name for her! Totally wild but stunning! Strangely also a beautiful chestnut like yours!

Good luck with him, I know with a little love and extra effort they soon improve :)

We've had him since October 2010 and hopefully getting him gelded. He's always been built petite but I'd like to still see more muscle on him. Not sure about his breed. He doesn't really travel like a Quarter Horse, it's almost gaited but we can't put our finger on it. He's really smooth and has a great personality, easy to train, etc. You don't even know he's a stud lol
