Well today some people at the barn wanted to go on a long trail ride, and I got offered a horse I hadn't ridden before. I decided to go because my dog has been going crazy with the lack of attention and exercise.
When I first got on the horse, he was a little cold backed in the arena. He didn't want to stop, he wanted to go fast. Well the neighbor had come down with a friend of his and was watched me deal with the horse. Not to long after working with him, the horse got to standing very nicely and we got a stop from a walk/trot/canter.
The man was super impressed with my riding and told me I was a "helluva rider" and went around telling everyone at the barn that. It juts felt nice to have a compliment out of nowhere and after being slightly in the dumps about not having my horse yet.
My girly was being so good for such little attention :)
I don't know if this has happened to anyone else (because usually it's the reverse) but since the last trail ride I had been on my horse got hurt in a freak accident, I was really worried about the horse being hurt. Not about myself at all, but just worried about the horse getting hurt. I wasn't too uptight and had a GREAT trail ride though but I wonder if that's ever happened to anyone else. I keep a good distance in between myself and other horses and branches now, which is probably for the better.
BEAUTIFUL trails today. There were deer everywhere, they got so close it was amazing. Pictures are really bad because they were on my phone, ah well.
Out on the trail the horse I borrowed was a champ! Reminded me so much of my own horse it made me sooo happy :)
I love our trails, they are GREAT desensatizers (spelled that disastrously hah) you have to go under bridges that are very busy roads (hearing the cars pass over while riding underneath scares some horses) pass over creeks, see wildlife and even bikers!
It got a lot greener than when I took my dog on a walk on the trails a month ago:
And just because they're so cute... my dog and the barn dog playing tug-a-war
Just wanted to share my 'feel good' for the day, wasn't sure to put it in trail riding or pictures hopefully I got this right. :)
