Uh. So. I..um..bought a Fjord.

I went to an auction with my BO, trainer, and a couple of other coworker/friends from the barn on Friday. We went out back to check out the horses that were going to be ran through. I happened to see through one pen..a handful of Fjords. I'm not sure how much I've mentioned it on the forum, but I absolutely adore Fjords. I've been harassing my BO about bringing one back for me if there is one every time she goes to an auction for over a year and they tease me about it.

So I see these Fjords. I shriek and make a scene and people stare. I was beside myself. However, what the hell am I supposed to do with another horse? Really. So after the loose horses start, it turns out there are TWENTY SEVEN of these Fjords. All weanlingish age. The group of people I am surrounded by are all pushing me to get one because they know how much I want one and we'll figure out the logistics of it later.

Pretty soon they're going for $1 or $2 EACH. I end up throwing up my hand..I got one for $15. I think the most expensive went for about $40 and it was the biggest of the lot.

So uh yeah. I own a Fjord that I bought for $15. I've decided that even if I can't afford her, I could even just give her away and would only be losing $15.

Oh! And then my roommate (also a boarder at this barn) bought a grade QH weanling filly for $10. She's a little dun and has been named Java. Neither have been touched so we just kind of had to shoo them onto the trailer and back out. Roommate did get a halter on my Fjord at the barn because she's pretty derpy. We attempted to catch Java yesterday just to get a halter on her. Yeah. Didn't work at all.

Pictures!!

Java

My Fjord also doesn't have a name. I was really hoping for something Scandinavian, but I'm bad at this. In my name planning for ever having a Fjord, it was always a gelding so I had several in mind for that. Not for a filly.

Yay!! Congrats, they are awesome Lucky, lucky to get one so cheap! I would have bought her in a heartbeat too!

On a downside she is aweful skinny :( and that's saying something for a Fjord since they are incredibly easy to keep

She's so cute!!! Do you know what Uff-da is? If she really is derpy you could call her that!

I found this site. It has a ton of names. I've always liked Ingrid.

Oh I know. We're working on fattening her up. The sad thing is..she was one of the more filled out ones. :/

Do I know what Uff da is? That would be a cute name if I didn't say it all the time about everything. Hahaha.

Wow! Congrats on fulfilling a dream & for so little (start-up) cost. Hard to believe weanlings go for so cheap. Is she about 6-7 months old? Nice filly your friend bought, too.

I'm really not sure about her age. For being as unhandled as she appears to be, she did allow us to pick up her feet (back feet required a leadrope though) and mess with her mouth. If I had had my camera, I would have taken a picture of her teeth to judge her age.

She is very pretty and I would call her Wher King Onit, good Scandanavian name that, but really she looks like a Flicka to me Yeah I know it is corny, but as soon as I saw this pic

It just shouted Flicka at me
