Update on starved rescue horses!

Just wanted to share with anyone interested in the 3 rescued mares we got from Bill Kiefer:

Eva:

Anyone else think these are "baby bumps" in these pics?

Jewel:

Finally, Dixie:

The farrier came out yesterday and all 3 did really well. A lot better than when I had worked with them the previous few weeks.

We put a blanket and saddle on both Eva and Jewel. Neither fussed or spooked. Tried to put a bridle and bit on Eva and she fought it. I was able to sit bareback on Jewel but she had no clue when I put a little leg pressure on her sides. All 3 lead pretty well and don't shy away as much when you go to catch them.

We thought Jewel might be pregnant when we first got them but it looks like Eva is.

Uh huh.
Soon as I scrolled down to the second pic my mind said "Baby bump."

When we first saw them, we were thinking that Jewel might be pregnant. She looked like she was carrying weight low like Eva is now. I guess we'll find out in time if either or both are.

Dixie is so pretty. Not saying the other two aren't. I just have a thing for horses with white faces.

AllyCee I was thinking the same thing.

They are all looking very good.

Have you had a vet out to check if the mares are pregnant.

Will you be having a vet check? It is possible for one of the mares to have been bred late or aborted and been re-bred. Lutalyse may still be an option. Even if it isn't, they still require care.
