I went with my friends family up to Sylacauga over the weekend to visit some friends... and I managed to snag a few pictures of their horses!
They own a huge Percheron stallion named Ike who’s over 17 hands tall and is only four years old. I was told that he’ll be gelded next year. He’s a big baby...
Their mares are Bella and Rose. Bella is the grey... she’s in foal to Ike. I’m not sure what breed she is, but she’s about 15 hands tall. Not sure of her age either. Rose is the Gypsy Vanner/x/Tennessee Walker cross. I’m not sure of her age either, but she’s not that tall. I think she’s supposed to be bred to Ike... but I’m not sure.
They also have two other geldings... Monster (don’t have any pics, sorry) is a little older, a Thoroughbred... I think they said fifteen or twenty years... he was given to them, and he’s kinda thin and has arthritis really bad. He’s a really dark bay. Jordan is the red dun. He was just brought home yesterday from Arkansas. He’s about sixteen hands and is a Halter horse (Quarterhorse). I’m not sure of his age, though.
We also went to a rodeo type event and my friend Brandi and I took turns riding (walking, trotting, and cantering) her Thoroughbred gelding Moses up and down the dirt road that ran alongside where the rodeo was being held. (Brandi’s the one wearing the blue long-sleeved shirt with the blonde hair... I’m the one wearing the jean jacket and black baseball cap... sorry that the pics are very blurry... they were taken from a video...) Moses is about 16.1 hands... Brandi is about 5”8, I’m about 5”7... Also, just so ya know... Moses is not black. He’s a dark bay... in the Autumn/Winter he looks black.
Hope you like the pics!
