Weekend Trail Riding

I went to the Patapsco park on Sun just by myself (it was 4th ride for Jemma). The beginning was somewhat rough: another horse dragged the rider back to the trailers and started to call Jemma (I know geldings LOVE her - he-he). Jemma started to call back and tried to got free to join him, so I ended up walking her fighting half mile from parking lot. Anyway... :) The weather was GREAT and no flies.

Looks like a great place to ride, just beautiful. Jemma did great too after a bumpy start. Do they have cut trails or do you have to hack your way through? How many miles of trails? Not that I'll ever make it to MD but just curious

Thanks, guys! Actually that was not my friend. It was just someone parked next to me and gave her time to leave (so I can leave other direction). So she disappeared in bushes, I tied my saddle and next I saw her right next to me. Lol! When I got back trailer was there, but not a woman, so I think she managed him after I left.

Vida, it's big park about 20 mins from me. You certainly welcome to come to MD, so we can ride! :) They maintain really well part of it (trails are wide and clean), but as long as you cross the creek you more or less on your own (although there are number of trails, but not as well maintained and narrow). What some people love to do is go there and then ride along the bigger river to the country restaurant next to the park (they have tie posts for horses there). I did it couple times, but I don't think I can do it with my horses (can't imagine my horse to wait for 3-4 hours there tied to the post . )

It always seems, no matter what, they're always at least one incident that happens during a trail ride.

I go on the It Shouldn't Hurt To Be A Child trail ride yearly, and usually there's always at least one or two people who get bucked off.

I'm just happy it's never me! Lol

WSArabians, I think that rough start was a good experience for both of us. I would prefer not to have it very often (lol!), but it's a good schooling for the trails.
