    Winter Warmies :)

Its winter here and all the horses are in their stylish winter outfits, few being loaded with rugs since we all resently got them clipped. Including Chinga . He's wearing:

    His paddock boots.
    Jute rug
    Heavy Day Rug
    Another Day Rug
And A massive winter ruggie - His warm :)

-- He needs a new bib, hood and tail wrap :)

Oh My Gawd :) What a stunner Chinga is!
Ricky isn't clipped and only has a cotton and a light waterproof rug on. But I'm getting him a doona.
My friend's horse has a fleece, a cotton, another cotton, a doona, a light water proof rug and then a huge heavy one.
But we're colder here so of course the clipped ones will have 34694376094378 rugs on.

How cold is it there? There's no snow...doesn't even look like the poop is frozen! Now I feel mean for not blanketing at ALL! I never clip them, but this will be the first year that I blanket any of my horses...and when I do, they get ONE.

Wow lol poor guy looks loaded down! I feel bad for not blanketing either! But we don't clip our horses and they have stables to go in. Lol he looks like an eskimo but horse style! = )

Sheesh that seems like overkill for queensland but maybe you are in one of those colder areas like toowoomba or something. My horse gets a light synthetic waterproof and a heavy synthetic waterproof in winter, she isn't clipped though but the rugging has kept her coat reasonably short. I'm in southern NSW and the temperatures are about between -3 (25F) and 2 (35F) degrees at night and between 8 (45F) and 13 (55F) degrees in the day (although windchill can make it feel like only 4 (40F) degrees

Wow it's so weird to be hearing everybody from Australia talking about how cold it is! I live in Georgia, Southeastern US, and it's 94 degrees here!

During the winter I blanket my horses with a medium weight blanket when it gets below the 20s. They love their blankets :].

His actually got a heap less runs then all the other horses around, they've got 6 or so. We're near a river and the temp just drops and its freezing! His also from a really really warm place and now I've blanked.

    Naw that's cute!
Shad had 4 rugs on, he's though he wrecked one of them the other day. Mandy has 5! A cotton rug + hood set, another the same only fleece, then 2 dooner rug combos and a lined canvas. (though she came from a much warmer area and was stabled there also..)
Here the lowest recorded temp was -7.8 I think (in town) though we've recorded -12 here (10.4F)
Haha I need to move somewhere warmer..
