    Yay for chunky(er) Hugo!

Looks like I have finally hit on a decent feed combination for my 17 yr old thoroughbred. I've been struggling to get a decent amount of weight on him for almost 6 months now & while he hasn't lost weight, he certainly hasn't seemed to be putting it on either.

And then about 3 months ago we copped another hit to his weight. He colicked quite badly and in the 5 days he was sick his weight plummeted. So the struggle resumed with even more gusto. This was Hugo just after his colic -

As you can see, apart from a serious hay belly, there really was nothing to him.

Well, it seems I may have finally hit the jack pot. He's currently being fed Nutririce Veteran, pollard, crushed lupins & speedi-beet. He's been on that for about a month now. Wanna see?? Here ya go, this was taken this afternoon ( in the rain)

YAY! Few more kilos & some muscle and by golly he's going to be a stunner again!

Excuse my excitement, I'm just glad I've finally hit on a good formula for my boy.

Great job!! He looks so much better, I know the TB's can be a handful to get weight on

He's definitely a hard keeper. I have 2 thoroughbreds & they are both difficult to keep the weight on, but Hugo in particular will lose weight if you look at him sideways. My standardbreds will stay fat off air if you let them, but not my thoroughbreds. Needless to say they are both getting fed now, but Hugo is the one I am really seeing results on!
