We have about 2 feet of snow here right now.
I do like the snow, but it gets too cold for riding or doing anything but what you absolutely have to do outside. When you are walking a quarter mile out to get the milk cows following the cow trail (if you step off the trail you sink up past your knee) and the wind is whipping, and the temp is -42*C.... That's when you start to look forward to spring.
When I was at home I would ride until it got down to -20*C and after that it just got too cold. But one year I wasn't smart and took a gelding for training in Nov. That year we got unusually cold temps with not much snow in Nov. I still had to put 30 days on this horse so when it got down past -20*C I would walk him for half a mile, ride for half a mile, walk, ride, etc... I think I would only put about 3 miles on a day. One thing for sure, that colt got used to me going up and down a lot. He learned to stand for mounting.
Surprisingly I actually do like winter. But when spring comes, I'm more than ready for it.
