*Pic Heavy*Please critique first horse- 13 year old Paint Gelding

Hello everyone. I don't know much about confirmation, but I do know my gelding isnt perfect :) that's ok with me, but wanted opinions on flaws or qualities that he has good and bad. He is 13 years old, registered Pinto. Mom was QH, dad unknown. I also wanted to know any opinions on why he has so much feathering on his feet and why it never shed out like the rest of him Thanks everyone. BTW: He is 14.3 hands, barefoot, great feet, and hearty. He was very think when I got him and has filled out quite a bit. Maybe too much??







I know the photos arent the best, he would keep following me when I took a few steps back. I <3 him.

He looks like a pretty nice horse, but its impossible to give a full critique without the horse being square.

Can you take a picture of him squared up, from the side? That'll help us see him better.

What I can see is that he looks a tad bench-kneed, and toed-out in the back. I love his markings, though!

I know... He would not stand still. How do I make him square up? He doesnt cross-tie either But anything that stands out in the pics I could get?

Sorry I don't have any better.. is he over weight. The ones up top are newest? Any reason why his feet don't shed out?

The hair on the feet is feathering, and it doesn't shed out like a winter coat. Some horses naturally have more or less of it. If you end up showing him in hunter classes, WP, showmanship, etc, you'll want to clip it since he's not a draft horse, but a stock horse.

His throatlatch is a little coarse-looking, but that's no major issue, mostly aesthetic. His rear end is rather weak-looking for a stock horse, but he could just be lacking muscling. It looks as if it needs to be somewhat wider from flank to dock. His back drops a little sharply from his withers, so make sure his saddle fits his shape properly and doesn't "bridge." His shoulder is a tad upright, too, but nothing too bad.

Remember, no horse is perfect . Overall, I like his confo.

His knees look a bit funky to me, and his back seems kind of odd too, but don't hold me to that. ;)

Yea he had NO muscle when I got him. When he walked his butt would jiggle, lol it was horrible. I've been riding him for almost 6 months 3-5 x's a week.. and its gotten better, but what can I do to make him have good 'ol QH butt? Thanks for the critique

My trainer said to him "youve got a really odd build buddy" but she also calls him a gem for his ridability.. and simply left that comment dangling in my head. LOL good to hear others input as well.

I agree, I thought his knees looked a little off as well, besides the bench-kneeness. His front cannon bone almost looks bowed in or something.....maybe I'm imagining things, or it was the way he was standing.
