Talking *Update* --"Pics from ride yesterday. Critique?"

Just an update if anyone else who read my previous post about Magic!:: I rode Magic again today and I lengthened my stirups two holes, I reallly tried hard to sink into my seat and support her with my legs. I also rode with a loose rein and with my hands closer together and where they should be. I had enough pressure on the reins for her to balance herself, AND she went into a frame and stayed there for a while without me having to hold her there!!!! I felt so much better riding!!! We did lots of trotting and circles and I did lots of stirrupless riding. I had my friend riding with me and I kept asking her about stuff to make sure I wasn't making a fool of myself. I do have a question though, Magic when I'm trotting seems to run at times. I think it may just be me. What are your thoughts? ALSO, I am keeping in contact with a lady I may be taking lessons from!! WOO HOO!

(sadly I didn't get any pictures today :( )

Great news. Sounds like you're making good progress. When you say Magic runs at times during the trot. Now that you have the forward and contact part down, sounds like it's time to throw in some half halts. Ride every stride and make the appropriate changes with your seat to create even tempo and stride. It's easier said than done, but that's my guess on what's next for you.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

I'm glad you have gotten her into frame, and she is working much better with you now. And with the running at the trot part, I agree with MyBoyPuck. Try half halts and using your seat.

Good luck.

Good for you! Wonderful to hear the advice you got, you took to heart and things worked out so well for you. Best of luck with the rest of your riding!
