Default 10yr old Niece

She has been riding for about 7 or 8 months and this is from her 5th show doing w/t with D

I think she was checking her diagonal (hence the looking down) heels are ok but should get down more, It also seems to me like she needs to 'give' with her hands more.

A little too much arch in that back and heels down more. Maybe a little more bend in her elbows??

In her line up, It looks like she has chair seat here... and once agan a little too much arch?

thnx for taking a look

She's a good rider! Some of the things I would suggest are for her to lower her hands a bit (they are pretty high) and for her to not lean back so much.

aaww ty! I will have to show her this post! will probably do a lot for her moral because she is bummed that she has not been able to win too many high points because a lot of shows don't offer 10&under classes (above she was competeing in the w/t 13&Under classes).

What a little natural! I don't see anything that hasn't been mentioned, and she should be proud of her riding :)

She's brave. I have never competed in a show before. I have been riding for a long time, but never had the guts or desire to do those horses shows. Tell her to keep up the good work. Oh and keep those hands down and less arch in that back.

She is doing a great job though, keep up the good work!

Thank you, you too! You should see her push him around while leading him. He will try to take a bite of grass and she just pulls his head up and says "ahk!" lol! I will have to get is on film sometime. He is the perfect camper for her. He LOVES kids .

She's absolutely adorable.

In terms of presentation, she needs to wear her jods over top of the tops of her boots, with those nifty little elastic bits to keep them from riding up. She also needs those garter straps just below the knee to sharpen things up. On her helmet's harness, cut off the extra bit that's flopping around, that can be distracting to a judge. With the jods and paddock boots, I frequently see two braids coming out from under the helmet with bows on them, just as a note. A lot of the girls enjoy finding the ribbons that look good with their shirt and pony. Also, to whoever is sending her in the ring, make sure her hat is on straight. It's a little tipped in one of the pictures. Just those little details I spotted.

I'd like to see more bend in the elbow and her hands down a bit more. Also, her reins are completely slack. She needs a bit more contact than that for the hunter ring.

She is sitting up very tall and looks very confident. Just a hair more lift in the chin. She has over arched her back, and her tendency to tip back isn't helping her heels. Once she comes out of the caboose, she'll have a lovely position, and her heels should be able to sink more.

She looks like a pro in that line up. She should be very proud of her riding and what she's done so far.

She isn't going to be doing a lot of hunter shows. She is doing more breed show stuff so (you know) they like the slack . Thnx for everything, she actually almost did not show because she left her garders at home but I figured it would be a good lesson to have her ride against other girls who didn't forget theirs (know what I mean?) thnx again a ton!
