Any progress? Getting Higher!

I'm just looking for an overall critique of my horse and me. We're slowly inching to higher jumps, this being the highest so far. Anything you have to say is greatly appreciated!

Nice job !!

I would just focus on sinking down and squatting in the saddle instead of standing up in the stirrups.

Your horse looks very serious about his job !! =]

Haha, I figured that would come up.. Yes! I'm horrible with the whole "sinking & squatting" thing. I had it getting better for a while, but then when it got so stinkin' hot down here, I stopped jumping him as much. Any tips on improving my overall position?

And thanks! He enjoys it, I think. Haha.

What helps me a lot is practicing 2pt on the flat at all gaits and over ground poles. I try to do 10-15 minutes every day, it will make you a lot stronger and help your muscle memory.

Nice, I'll try that! I always take for granted what 2pt can do for you!!

Looks good. Just needs a little tweaking. You could stand a bit more release and be a bit closer to that tack. Try this. Pretend you are about to jump. For every inch you put your arms forward, put your butt as equally behind you. If you do it enough times, you start to develop muscle memory. You'll fix both things at the same time.

What is 2pt?! Nice pic, I really want to learn to jump properly!

Never heard that one before! I'll definitely try that.

2 pt. Is the position you have when you're jumping. You have 2 points of contact with the horse, which is why it's called 2 pt! And you should definitely learn to jump properly! It's so much fun! I used to hate it, but with my boy, I love it!

First, I want to say that over all, I like your form and you're doing well so far.

Two things I noticed is that:

*You heel is almost level...remember to really sick your weight into those heels!

*Your stirrups look almost too short. I could be going crazy, but bear with me. If you put them a hole or a half-hole lower, you might have less trouble "sinking and squatting".

Good luck!
