ROFL, yes yes, I know I'm a hick! Which actually leads me to a question - I've been jumping in my Dressage saddle for the last five years or so, just because I didn't have an all purpose that fit Zierra. It's a good quality Collegiate, and I love it to pieces. Recently, I got my uber POS all purpose back (it was $200 for the PACKAGE) and I was excited to have a "real" jumping saddle. Well, all it's done is cause me problems. I can't sit a trot, I can't sit a canter, and my two point is ridiculous. I thought it was me being a weakling. Turns out, for kicks, I threw my Dressage back on Zierra. And everything was ace again - easy sitting trot, couldn't move if I tried at the canter, and jumping was suddenly fun again.
So my question is - have I become so accustomed to jumping in a Dressage saddle, I'll just have to re-learn how to use an all purpose saddle? Or is my all purpose such a hunk of junk, it's just not going to be possible for me to have decent position? I guess it's hard to answer that, I'm more looking for other peoples experience?
Anyway, feel free to critique! Haha, I'm using a halter because simply put, she goes better in it. She's never liked the bit, and she has a horrible rushing problem with the bit - just gets her nose up and stops listening to me. With a halter, I'm in total control. Maybe we can find some jumping competitions that will let me go in a halter and Dressage saddle?
Yuck! I think I was in bareback mode - I have no idea what I'm doing here, except failing in an epic way
A lot of people have told me to stop trying so hard over crossrails - is this more of how I want to look?
Not sure about this one, she jumped long and I think she just bumped me right out of the saddle
LOL, just cause she's cute
I think I'm standing more then anything?
Again, to far forward
FAIL! Completely and entirely my fault, I completely goofed up the striding, and she saved my butt like she always does, little princess
I really like this one and would especially love critiques on this one in particular...feels like I'm finally doing it half decent (2'5" by the way)
Left behind
And a video of us jumping 2'5" (measured):
