The bolded part is most likely the reason you're bouncing around. Tensing up and gripping through your thigh is going to severely restrict your ability to move with the horse. You want to think about being relaxed, all the way from your bum to your knee, as though your legs are melting ice cream, running down the cone that is your horse's barrel (I am stealing that metaphor from someone -- I think Sally Swift. You should definitely check out her book "Centered Riding" if you have not already.)
