Bareback Jumping Critique!

So Shay-la snapped these of me jumping my Arab mare Zierra. I have this horrible problem of crunching up my shoulders. It always feels fine when I'm jumping but then I see pics and it's like BLECH. I think I sorted it out a bit by the end though! Any critiques are great, I much prefer jumping bareback, I grew up riding without a saddle so saddles tend to just screw me up. Zierra jumps a lot nicer without all that tack, she doesn't rush, so maybe we're just kindred spirits?

Looking down - probably my worst habit of all (Shay-la yelled at me, thank you!)

Not bad, but she just cantered it. A bit tense I think?

Looking down and hunching my upper body

Like I'm trying to make my dang neck disappear!

ROFL, Shay-la was HYSTERICAL after this one. I tried jamming my heels down to make my body relaxed and it had the comlpete opposite effect.

Last jump of the day! She took off long, but I think I don't look half bad?

Thanks for the comments!

Your biggest problem is your looking down, it's hard to get up and into the two point bareback so I can't tell exactly how your supposed to be with your body, but your eyes are staring at the ground.

No crits from me, I just want to say that it looks like plain fun. No saddle, no bridle and a pair of lawn chairs. You go girl!

I second binkyhoo. =]

I just want to add that you're horse is beautiful, and I don't even like Arabs, lol. But really, she's stunning.

last pic is best to me, if you were using a bit I would say you might want to move your hands up a bit but with just a halter doubt its bothering your horse

i agree with lovemyponies. your hands are down a little but you can probably get away with it with a halter and a lead rope.

your horse is very pretty by the way!

Thanks guys! She's really a doll, she actually LIKES jumping, haha. My sister rode her Western the other day and had to keep avoiding the jumps because Zierra kept veering for them

I know I have to STOP looking down! It's a horrible habit, I don't know how I got into it.

Heh heh, and yes, it's hella fun! Shay-las mom is kind of annoyed we destroyed her lawn chairs though *sheepish* We have one set of standards but the termites got them when they were sitting at my grandpa's, so they're almost toast. We want to make more this summer, but trying to find cheap spare lumber that isn't rotton has been kind of tricky. Hopefully we have some luck before winter comes!
