Brandy-Roping Prospect-lotta pics

This is Brandy. She is out of cutting stock. She was an "accident" foal that I got for free around 1 1/2 years old. Im no good at pic takin and she is no good at standing still! I havent put alot of time in her yet but will be doing so this summer. She is very green to everything. She stands good under saddle though so those are a bit better I think. I think she could have been registered but never was?? I have no idea what her pedigree is :( I just know she is a quarter horse

She is about 4...and yeah, I trimmed her feet yesterday afternoon..we have to guess on her age...we don't know where the guy is who left her with us and as much as he seems to care bout her he wouldnt know her age anyway...she has been at Mr Bailey's 2 1/2 years and she was about 1 1/2 years when we got her ...going on an estimate by the vet

Well aren't roping horses normally small? Just a thought :)

Heeling horses are normally shorter, but 15 hh is not too tall for that and she seems to be stocky enough to head. I like her build myself. Nice strong legs. She will look great once she is in shape. I would not suggest heading on a horse smaller tho. Take your time with her and make sure she is physically fit before you put too much pressure on her to turn a steer or set one. Good luck :)

Kchfuller: I don't know what size she should be, I jsut realized alot of the guys local use quarter horses about like her

KTSpeedhorse: thanks! :) I am going to work more on riding her this summer and I am sending her off to a trainer in the spring. But the guy who im looking to train is a big man, as well as my friends husband who suggested him. They were asking if it was at least a 1000 lb horse because he wouldnt be able to train any smaller a horse. Although I know nothing of the roping world, my little boy is wanting to ride horses and has his eyes set on the roping but he is just learning to ride, so since I had her I figure she might make a good horse for him by the time he was ready and I alse have a few years to learn about it myself ;)

The best way to learn how to rope is to start on a seasoned horse maybe you can lease one and go to a clinic or 2. It's fun and exciting : )
