Confo Critique - I finally got soome confo pics...I think

Ok, I took these today, I hope they are decent conformation pics, let me know if they aren't. It was hard getting him to stand still as he was being agitated by the little Arab stalled next door and I have ALWAYS had an issue getting him to keep his weight on both hind legs, he always has one or the other up in a rested position....so lazy!

He does have a very old wire cut on the left hind on the front of the cannon bone and another one on the left fore about an inch and a half above the knee (looks like a bump in the pic, it's a scar that makes the hair stand out)

Please let me know what you see....critique the heck out of him...please be brutally honest, I can take it and I won't write back with excuses or whines.

He is standing all caddywhompus in all the photos, makes him look very off... He needs to be square.

The only thing that I can infer from these photos is that his feet are in need of a trim, they are all 4 different sizes.

Yea his feet do need a trim. He looks a little downhill as well, but maybe that's just the reflection of the sun off of his beautiful black coat. He is very pretty!!

I agree on the trim, farrier is due out this week. The person I got him from had her farrier come out and trim him and he spent a whole 5 minutes to do all 4 feet....and too short at that so I had to wait.

I forgot to say he is a registered paint....but he is all Western Performance QH on the bottom side, a grandson of Docs Cinch Bet. He also has about 75% quarter and 25% TB on his up side, but no notable names. I think Qh'S are normally a little downhill, but I could be wrong.

I will have help tomorrow so I will try to get more pics. The idiot just really doesn't "get it" when I try to square him....something we are definitely working on ha ha.

This may be due to his feet being all uneven, and not his lack of knowhow. Just a thought. He is a very lovely boy...love that shine!

I talked to my trainer about his feet again, she thinks we should wait until about a week before I actually get on him for the first time to trim so that the farrier has more to work with so that is about 1 more week or so. The were just so short and messed up when we got him. I was there when his previous owner had him trimmed and I was very very unimpressed with her farrier.

He also left the hoof walls about 1/2 inch longer than the rest of his hoof, has anyone seen this before? You don't see it until you pick up his hoof to pick his foot but it is way longer and it makes it hold in the dirt and mud way more. Does anyone know if there is a purpose to this?

Horses have a hard time "squaring up" if their feet are all uneven. It is like wearing a high heel and a clog and expecting to stand straight and square. You will probably be amazed how square he stands when he is even.

Ok I got these today, and now I'm giving up until we get a proper trim, but let's see if we can at least see some things with him :) He's pretty much more squared up as I have ever gotten him, and this is the flattest surface I could find. They are supposed to be working on the arena footing this week so after his trim I will try in there.

Much better. Just some info: the reason he will not square up is his feet no doubt, the tell tale sign is especially if he always or usually stands in the exact same position...

He has nice very slightly cow hocked legs. That is pretty normal and allows for rib clearance as he moves. I love his jet black coat.
