confo critique on my two girls

These are my two girls. They are both out of shape as we haven't had time to ride them that much this summer.

Horse 1: Star. She is a 20 year old appy mix. We do a lot of trail riding. When she was younger we did some jumping, but as she has gotten older her eye sight is starting to go, so no more of that. She looks like a couple different horses thrown together, but she's perfect for what I want!

Horse 2: Lassie. She is a 21 year old quarter horse mare. She has been used for 4H, team penning, barrels, driving, lots of trail riding, and she swims! She is your do anything with kind of horse.

So critique away! I know they both have their issues, especially star. So be as harsh as you like!

Hey, beauty is as beauty does. A good horse comes in every color, breed, and conformation. That being said, they do have an appearance fault or 2. LOL

Star: Big head, short thick neck that ties in high, shoulder and croup are steep, post legged on back, and may be a bit cowhocked. She also looks to be a bit uphill?? On the other hand, her color is absolutely stunning. I have been sitting here trying to figure out what color she is. Is she a black or brown? I know she can't be a gray or she would be much whiter....

Lassie: Much better basic conformation. The only thing that I notice that is considered a fault is she appears to be camped out a tad and a little sickle hocked. No big deal though. She is a bit swaybacked but that is probably due to her age.

You have got 2 nice horses and my philosophy is "Who cares if they are ugly, all that matters is that they work"

I have a couple of fugly ones myself.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

thanks for the critique! Star is my "unique" horse. lol. Her color has always been a mystery. I blame the appy side of her.
To show her color a bit better:

She gets to this color in the summer, the nice dapple like grey. In the winter her back turns brown but the rest of her stays the same. I have always been curious and interested in testing her color, but it's not really that interested to pay to have it done. :)

I love my fugly girls, especially star, she's my baby and I wouldn't trade her for anything.

i think you have 2 beautiful horses, which are looking fabulous for their age (for any age really!)
Star is stunning, and despite her less than perfect confirmation, she looks sooo sweet!
lassie looks like when she had maybe a bit more muscle tone she would have been a heartbreaker - and they've both certainly grown old gracefully! x :)

I myself, would of said trail. Nice. Not the prettyiest but I would take a good work horse any day to a fancy schmancy jumper. Have fun.

Did I just say not pretty, I am an idiot...i mean very pretty...Hug worthy... You go and have the fun I wish I had. :)

Boy that is a very unique color. I wonder if maybe she has a silver modifier or something. I love her.

Can I come steal her????? LOL.
