I was just wondering if someone could critique Molly for me, im not breeding but I might get into cutting or barrels with her, just let me know what you think, and I am open to ALL critiques even the mean ones. Also I only paid a 100.00$ for her so I know she isn't the greatest. Thanks to everyone!
BTW The last pic is just for fun I finally got Cochise gelded and got him with the girls, they both love him lol
Wow, she is actually very nice for only having paid $100. Honestly, I see nothing majorly wrong with her conformation other than a slightly steep shoulder and small-ish rear end. Her feet scare me a bit, they look nice and large from the coronet band but very short.
Thanks, she was actually headed to the slaughter house when the told us we could have her for a 100 bucks I feel pretty good about it, she is three so we have alot of work ahead of us! LOL have a good one!
I have yet to pay more than 600$ for a horse...granted they were ALL either babies, or major "project horses"...my current mare was being sold for 200$ (I traded her for the gelding I had). I figure if they are sound, and clear a vet check, and are what you are looking for in a horse, price really is irrelavant.
I think for what you paid, you will have a pretty good riding horse, who "should" be able to do most anything you want with; I don't see anything super glaringly wrong with her conformationally... As long as you know how to train, or have someone to train her, I'd say you got a pretty darn good deal.
I like her too. Other than being a little tied in on the front, her legs look great. Nice short pasterns with a good angle. Her neck and back look like they might be just a skosh long but that may just be my computer as well. She's nice and broad and I love her chest. Her cutting ability will depend greatly on whether or not she has any natural savvy but I can imagine that she would be a pretty nice barrel horse and a very nice all-arounder.
Wow!!! Great buy IMO!!! Nice looking mare. Nothing shouts out at me as horrible confo or anything, I agree with what everyone has said really! Great buy! Have fun with her!
She is a lovely mare and a great buy. Watch her feet, tho. They may look short, but that angle is getting too flat. Her heels will get too far slung under . We have a really nice QH now with shoeing that has gradually caused this; the heel gets too low and too far forward and then the horn tubules (that set the linear growth of the hoof wall) , become too pararllel to the ground and thus the hoof becomes week and it puts pressure on the back of the pasturn and the ligaments there.
I agree with others about her feet, but it's not IMO something that can't be fixed within a few months.
Good find!
