I'm a pony club mum with a bit of a horsey background. I'm really surprised at our local pony club that the kids were asked to do trot poles, sitting to the trot, sitting back.
Is this correct?
I was always taught to go into the forward leaning seat!
My kid is starting to jump, and it has confused the hell out of her. So when we've got home I've set up trot poles and taught her the correct forward leaning seat to help with her jumping.
Is it just me, or is that how it is taught now, and why? How would this help teach them the correct position over jumps?
By the way my daughter is 13, and a good dressage rider, and it was the whole group being asked to tackle the poles in that position.
It's hard as you can't question the instructors, but geez it makes it impossible to help your kid when you think what they're being taught is incorrect.
Thanks,
