Cool Critique AQHA 2006 gelding yet another potential buy really interested in him!!!!

So I am still on my search for a horse and I have decided instead of getting a weanling or yearling I want to get a coming three year old that way I can break him myself. Yes I know what I am getting into. I have done it before plus I am looking for a good trainer right now that can help me. So here is a guy that I am super interested in:

he is a bay 2006 gelding. Hasnt been broke yet due to the lady having health issues and needs to get rid of most of her horses. He is 15 hands currently. I am going to be doing reining cutting and all around cow work with him. What does everyone think? She is asking 850 or best offer. She said make an offer cause she really needs to get rid of her horses.
Please try and critique and tell me what you think about him and his price.
Here are his bloodlines:

He is a very angular colt. His shoulder, croup, legs, etc. They are all at angles that are not necessarily good. His shoulder and croup look really steep, he looks almost post legged on the back, and he may be a bit over at the knee. He looks like his front legs may be a bit tied in too. Something about his back kinda bothers me but I can't really put my finger on it. He is downhill though. On a good note, his bloodlines are definitely made for cattle work. His face is adorable and he has a very intelligent eye. There is no doubt that he would be capable of watching a cow but I don't know how competitive he would be. Plus, I am not sure that his conformation would be much good for reining. He would probably make a decent all around horse but I am not sure that he would excell at any given discipline. His angular build may cause him to travel a little rough. You can definitely find worse horses out there but with the market, I would not pay $850 for him. Maybe $500 since he is 3 and has not been started.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog:

I agree, his bloodlines may be great but his body tells another story. He is not what I would call a cow horse or a reining horse. Granted he is three but there is no hip to him, his head is long for a quarter horse and in my opinion lacks the intelligent cow eye. His body is long in my eyes, Quarter horses around here are more compact. I too dislike his legs. His front looks like he is a bit under himself and over the knee, his hind legs are to strait for my liking and to be quite frank I don't see any thing really pleasing about him. To me he does not have any " quarter horse" characteristics, I would pass if I were looking for a good quarter horse to take into one particular discipline.

On a good note, he is healthy looking.
I am not a pro so if you like his personality than he may be great.
Best of luck to ya!
