    Critique aspen & I?

Okay so recently this year I switched over to hunters with my paint mare, Aspen. I'm 16 and she is 7 1/2 in case you need to know.

I've added a couple pictures so go ahead and critique both of us as according to the hunter style, thanks :)

    Thanks guys :)

    Thumbs up I would say...

Over the smallest jump, you look a little up on her neck. Don't be afraid to grab mane! And when I say grab, I mean a chunk. Also, try not to make your back as flat as a board. While this is pretty, it also makes you look like you're a riding robot. Loosen up a little! Over the jump, don't grip the reins to hard.. let them slip for a better release. Hmm.. what else.. heels way down, and hold them there. Tuck in your elbows (though you pretty much have that down), chin UP (you got that too) and don't just grip with your calves, you can use your knees too! I know what your thinking, your trainer told you never to do that! But when you're jumping, you land a lot softer if you grip EVERYWHERE (yes, including your knees) and you don't bounce on the landing. You have a great horse and a great position and riding style-- I know you two will go far together. And you as a rider; I can't to wait to see you at Rolex showjumping

I love how you're looking up and your horse is really cute, I would say to shorten your reins and maybe sit back just a little bit, it looks like you're a touch ahead in the first two photos.

Firstly, you're a really nice rider and you look like you have a really sweet looking horse.

Remember to keep your toes inwards, it'll help to keep your leg correctly 'on' the horse. It looks like you're jumping ahead a little in the first picture, wait for the horses movement, go with the horse instead of in-front of the horses movement. It looks like you're bracing on your horses neck a little bit (I may be wrong about this, it was a little hard to tell). Remember to really use your core and your muscles to hold yourself. You have a nice position, use it!

Keep your leg under you, it's probably slipping back a little because you have your toes pointing outwards. If you can push your toes in a little more, it'll probably help you to push your heels down correctly.

There are some small things that folks mentioned, those who know about jumping, but from me, who knows very little about jumping, I can say that you look very tidy, stable and energetic. You horse looks balanced, happy and alert. Really a very nice pair all around.

Thanks!! That means a lot even if you don't know a lot about jumping :)
