Kayty - I have been doing that exercise a bit lately, I find I tend to lean forward a bit sometimes but it definitely helps. Where you said do it at a halt I'm not sure it's quite the same but I have been doing that at work on the tractor. I stand on the step on the side and sink my weight into my heels and it's awesome how much it stabilizes you. Being on the tractor can be a very bumpy ride but doing that I barely move. My calves can really burn after awhile, though the more I do it the less it burns. It has also helped me immensely when I come to doing it while riding.
