The critique clinic went well!

I just wanted to say thanks for all the critiques on the "young friesian". I just got back from the clinic with the former FPS judge and it was a blast... He said my horse was at the extreme end of the sport horse type friesian and had wonderful confirmation. There were a few "unfriesian" things about my horse. He has a long back and a straight neck. He is also very refined legs and hooves. But the way he is built, the judge thinks he would make a great dressage sport horse. Everyone was shocked at how tall he was at 2 years old(about 16 1 hands). I'm almost inspired to give dressage a try If nothing else it was fun to see how excited my boy was in the arena. He really put on a show walking around like
"I'm the man!"

Well, my first horse show was a lot of fun. I can see how so many people get hooked on it.

Here are some recent pics of my boy from just last week. He is 2 yrs and 3months.

You went to the Jan Engelsma clinic in Bealsville? I almost went last weekend...but decided to save it for a year or two. My friend Jeannine went though, said it was a great clinic.

Yes, I was there with the 2 year old gelding. What fun it was. You should've went! Did your friend show her horse? I'm really bad with names so I don't remember her. I learned so much about breeding and stallion/mare lines. It was also fun to hear all the judge stories... Ofcourse there were a couple of amazing stallions we got to see. Ahhhh. I'm inspired to try dressage.... If you can, go to the next Mid-atlantic friesian meeting... You don't have to have a friesian to be a member. Also persistance farm has a lot of open houses that are fun to go to (he has stallions to gawk at).

I wish I had gone now, but I want to save it for some point closer to my boy's 3rd or 4th year...he goes to his baby keuring in September. My friend didn't bring any of her horses; she only has one filly coming up for judging in a couple of years, and its a bit of a drive from southern Virginia:P I'll definitely try to go next year though.
