Equitation Experts! I need tips and advice to improve my equitation for IHSA shows particularly, so any advice on smoothing out transitions, getting the feel for a new horse quickly, get noticed in a large flat class, etc, would be great. I know I need work on my sitting trot, so any advice on how to do a really nice sit trot on bouncy horses would be especially helpful.
These pictures are all from IHSA shows over the past semester. For those who don't know, IHSA is college horse showing where you literally pick a horse from a hat, and when it's your turn you must immediately mount the horse and get in the ring. You have absolutely no warm-up to figure the horse out and you are being judged the moment you step into the ring. In novice flat, they typically ask you to walk, trot, sit trot, and canter both directions.
I actually did win my class on this horse (only time I have ever won an equitation flat class)
I tend to drop to inside shoulder; advice on stopping that?
