I found this guy for $800. He is a rescue horse (the rescue organization is being evicted from their property). He is 16.3, broke to ride, unknown breeding, sound. What do you think? Im looking for a jumper? Might be an interesting project? Could I make a profit with a years worth of training?
His neck looks a bit short and thick, but might just be the angle he has his head. There's something about his hind quarters that I can't put my finger on, but I'm not sure about them. Could also just be the angle lol.
But he's got a pretty face, and I always cheer for people buying rescue horses.
How old is he?
He looks like a TB. Has he been raced? (Look for a tatoo under his upper lip).
What's his temperament like?
Are you going to have him vetted? If you're going to invest your time and money in him, I would get x-rays of his legs to make sure he doesn't have something like navicular or some arthritic changes which could result in some hefty vet bills later on.
He is 7 years old. They didn't mention a lip tattoo or racing history in the ad. I emailed a few hours ago to get more info...we will see what they send back.
I like him he looks to me like a sprint bred quarter horse very similar build to mine light in the back end and very heavy through the shoulders, My man is a really good jumper he can clear some pretty high fences without even trying.
good luck he looks very promising
he looks nice. looks like he is muscly through the shoulders but there is something about his shoulder i dont like. its almost like its quite small and higher up than it should be. it could be just me but ive spent the last 5 minutes looking at it and thats definitely what it looks like to me.
he would be one handsome horse with some time and work
i like him a lot!!!!! he looks promising. my apha gelding is 16.3hh and super muscle man..guess what he is a 3'6'' jumper too! so take that for what it is. i would not pass him up. be sure to get a vet check done first. good luck!!! keep us posted!
