In the first picture she took off really early, taking that pole and putting it on the other side of the jump and giving her a ground line might help and just riding her all the way to the base. In the second picture her knees are uneven and loose. Some grid work will help that (: Shes really cute!

You did a really good job of not hitting her in the mouth when she took off so early. I bet some gymnastics will tighten her knees up and they'll help encourage her to get to the base of her fences too. Jimmy Wofford has a really good book full of gymnastic exercises. I've used it with every horse I've taught to jump and I highly recommend it.

As a side note, you might want to move that pole on the landing side of the fence in the first pic for safety's sake. It should either be tucked all the way in or moved out of the way so there's no way your horse can land on it. I usually put all the extra cups away too, but I know most others do not (ride enough greenies over fences and you get really careful, lol).

thanks for the tips :) she doesnt usually take off that early, but I don't have ANY good pics of her jumping from the side, so i had to settle for that. And thanks, I REALLY try never to hurt the horse or interfere when they jump, so I will do anything so i dont hit there backs or pull on their mouth. As for her form, Shes sadly under worked, out of practice and out of shape. :P I'll post more pics of her when my friend uploads some from a recent show.

I think most importantly, she looks happy jumping. Her ears are up and she looks very focused. Get her back into shape, and do those gymnastics and I bet you'll have a handy little jumping mare in no time! And by the way, your form looks great, especially leaving from such a long spot on that first one!

Thanks so much :) She does love jumping, and I think she's great at it. I sold her to a 12yo girl who all but ruined her over fences and since I bought her back she's goin back to her old self :) I can't wait to get the jumping pics. I got to ride her every day and this is the first day, and on the show day she looked sooooo good. imo :)

I'm DEFINITELY gonna do gymnastics with her
