    Critique Mares

The first is my 11yo APHA mare, Annie who's been out of commission for almost a year because of a mysterious lameness, so she's just getting back into work. I want to know how she's moving. Only critique her because my friend is riding, not me.

And the next horse is an 11 year old Belgian Warmblood, Tara, who was given to the BO because she couldn't keep her. She's newly started over fences and this is her second time cantering a jump.

I really like Tara, she is gorgeous and she has a lovely big scopey jump :) If that's only her second time cantering a jump, she's going to be a superstar. I'm not a hunter jumper, we actually don't have h/j in Australia as far as I know, but I'd have her as a jumper or eventer.

As for Annie, she is a lovely horse and she's moving out nicely in those videos. She could have a bit more animation and suspension but really unless you ride dressage that's not a huge problem. She has a good free swinging trot. I really don't like gadgets like draw reins and they give her a tendency to over-bend a little but to each their own.

The paint mare move nicely. She may not have a lot of vertical suspension, but she moves with vigor and seems kind of "catty". I mean, she move with all four feet used equally. I bet she has good balance and would be fun in western gaming or as a trail mount.

Be sure to work lots of turns and circles and such into her workout, lots of lateral work. She is almost overweight. I bet she is loads of fun. If you ever get bored of her, holler!
