Critique Me and Bobbert? :) jumping lesson!

Me and Robbie are loving the new barn, we're progressing really well and we've got a show coming up at the end of august! :)
We've been jumping a solid 3'6 outside, but because of the crazy rain we got stuck inside for our lesson today and only got up to 3'/3'3. :) Still a good lesson so critique away! Thanks guys!!

    Warming up

First time jumping it, Robbie was a bit sketched even though you can't tell haha ;)

    Second time bit better!

    Over the other "scary" fence

    :) yay bertooo!

No critique from me; you guys look great.

Either Bobbert is absolutely huge, or you're short, lol! How tall is he?

    Thanks! :)

Haha, I'm glad Robbie looks big! I'm always so worried I look huge on him.
But he's 16.2hh and I'm 5'7. So we're actually a pretty normal pair! He is a dutch warmblood though, so he is built like a tank and takes up my leg really well. :) Probably why he looks massive haha

    You look great! Good 2-point!

Are you two gonna' do hunters or jumpers?
        07-28-2011, 11:53 PM
Robbie is definitely a hunter haha. He loves to show off and be pretty, the judges love him. :)

However, he has been showing an interest in the jumpers lately so we might play around in jumperland at the next show. :)

The one thing that really jumps out at me is your hands! You have major piano hands and are breaking at the wrist. Focus on keeping your thumbs up and a straight line from your elbow to his mouth.

Yes! My hands are my worst flaw haha. I've always had problems with my wrists and hands and I do this weird twitch thing with my left one!
Any suggestions on how I can improve this?

This may sound stupid but my instructor told me to imagine you are holding an icecream cone and if you turn your hands it will spill. If you keep your thumbs up your wrists should naturally stay quite a bit straighter naturally.
