I think your dad is an absolutely lovely rider. He has nice quiet, steady hands. His upper body is nice and quiet, and his legs are super nice. He looks like he's totally in tune with the horse. The two of them look awesome!!
The only two suggestions I have are:
- Ask him to roll his shoulders back, he's hunching a little especially in the canter. Tell him that there's a star on his chest that he needs to show off, so he has to have his chin up and shoulders back. Then you just need a quick one-word reminder ("Star!") when he starts dropping. He rocks his upper body a little (twisting in time to the stride) at the canter. I believe focusing on the shoulders would help that a ton. Two birds with one stone... er... star??
- I would like to see him adopt either a two-point or a full seat at the canter, it looked a little like he was indecisive between the two. Either is fine, as long as he can adopt a full seat when needed. No sunlight between his butt and the saddle!
Again, these are minor adjustments and really are just to fine-tune the picture. I love love love his posture otherwise. Quiet, nice rider from what I could see.
