He's pretty. But for such a big guy his hooves look way too small. I don't think I've ever seen a STB trimmed that short. Is it just me?

He has been trimmed by a natural hoof trimmer who had given him a mustang roll. Plus in the pics he is standing on soft ground so he was sinking in . He is ridden on the road most of the time.

I agree that his hooves look too short for the size that he is. If he's being ridden on the roads most of the time, shouldn't he have shoes?

I do not use shoes because I do not like them. They are much healthier barefoot. I am looking into getting him boots tho

What a chunky man! Nice and solid, handsome head, quite like him, but as a STB owner, I'm quite biased ;)
I don't like how small his feet are either. I'm not good with confo, so I can't say much more!

I ride my horses on the road almost everyday and they all do fine without shoes.

I agree that they look too short, however if he's being ridden that much on hard surfaces and he's sound then so be it for me to criticize trimming on the internet. Although, my thinking his hooves are short has nothing to do with the fact that he has a mustang roll. That just rounds the edges to prevent chipping and cracking, I'm talking about the length from coronet band to the ground and the lack of heel. Cute guy though, I'd never guess standardbred.

What would you guess him to be? I should have posted a "guess the breed". That would be cool
