Critique our recent on flat show class!

Hi everyone, this was my first show with the mare I lease, Wren. She was a super star considering that we were LITERALLY swimming in all of the rain and water! It was quite possibly the worst conditions I have ever ridden in. I am very proud of her though for simply doing what I asked.

I'm looking for a critique on our walk/trot/canter equitation class. This was my fifth class of the day, and you could say I was completely dead. I wouldn't normally enter five classes, however three of them were trotting 4 crossrails around the arena once, and all of the classes were opportunity classes. I am really hoping to improve my eq this summer, seeing as I have a pretty bad problem with letting my heels come up at the canter. My upper body is very stiff because Wren got extremely strong (She has a bolting/spooking problem we have been working on for two years now) and I especially didn't want her getting too fast in the horrible "swimming pool".

Here it is! I'm very proud of my girl overall, and we will have lots more shows this summer with hopefully better weather to make up for some of our mistakes.

Wren is the chestnut with a blaze, and I am number 190.

Thanks so much everyone :)

You both look good together and you look like a nice quiet rider. You could be asking a bit more from your horse, e.g. Asking for a bit more inside bend. It was hard to see your heels but what I did see didn't seem like they were sitting too high, I would work on your rein contact. Your hands sit quite low and your reins are a tad too long so I would carry your hands a bit more and shorten your reins a bit.

Overall she looks to have nice rhythm, a bit rushed in some places and the downwards transitions from canter to trot are what I would work on too.
This should improve if you adjust your hands and reins as described above, but also just prepare for the downwards transition a bit more. Giving your horse a half halt, keep the lower leg on and sit up a bit more.
