    Exclamation Critique Red

I'd like some opinions on Red's conformation, being un biased, and from a wide range of experience.

How does he look, trotting on lunge? There pretty dodgy photos.

He seems to be post legged, has a long back and neck. This is all that I can see. He is a beautiful horse .

I think that he is a bit long in the back, and needs more topline muscling both in the back, and the neck. It looks like he is a nice mover, though its a bit hard to tell from just a picture. IMO your saddle is a bit too far forward, though without being able to see it in person, and move it around, I can't be 100% positive. He has beautiful coloring, and he's got a very nice shiny coat. Looks very healthy and well cared for. What breed is he?

It would be helpful to know what you wanted to do with him.

Based on the photos- long back, not a lot of muscle on the top line, underdeveloped hindquarters with a short steep croup, longish/weakish pasterns. Post legged behind. Very low set hock.

Like the front end shot, nice wide chest with well set, straight forelegs. Toes out signifigantly on the right front. Fairly short and upright shoulder.

The trotting on the lunge photos pretty much bear out what you can see in the standing photos - he has trouble moving up underneath himself behind, and doesn't move out well from his shoulder.

I feel bad being rough on this guy, who's probably a good do-be and a useful horse. He's just not an ideally conformed equine athlete.

Thanks guys, yeah, he is Thoroughbred, got rejected from racing.

I don't honestly have a set goal for what I want to do, mainly paddock hacking, that's about it.

Honestly, he really is'nt useful at the moment, he';s an absolute prick right now. Though I actually thin khe has got some back issues, and croup issues.

We are working on basic ground manners, he likes to walk around you, stomp alout, move about, generally not stand still. Does anyone have any suggestions for helping him, move out from hs shoulder?

And he can't be ridden well, at all, though ithink it's due to back related issues, he bucks and throws his head. But don't worry, I am getting the vet out.

For what we paid for him, it was expected though.
