I'm not very good with conformation, but that is a gorgeous horse! He needs a little weight loss though, but I think with him being your new horse he will be getting rode all the time. =]

Yeah, I know he's chubby, but I am riding him quite a bit.:)

No comments about the horse except for the fact that he's a cutie, but... please please please never ever tie your horse with the reins/bit. This is an accident waiting to happen. Always use a halter to tie. Secondly, your saddle is not fitting him correctly, and can cause him a great deal of back pain; I highly suggest you look for a new saddle.
Best of luck with your new best friend!

Thanks I'll remember not to tie him with the reins. The saddle does fit. I had my horse lesson teacher come out and check to make sure. Thanks for your concern, though.

Nothing jumps out at me when I look at his confo. Besides that he could lose a few pounds. =P

But he is very cute.

I have that bridle! I have had it for almost 10 years now, and it's still my favorite.

And like justdressageit stated, don't tie with reins. Trust me. Even the quietest horses that never spook or pull back will that one time that you will tie with reins and it just always turns out with lots of broken tack and injured horses. =(

What jumps out at me is that his nose seems huge in the third picture! LOL - just kidding!!! He's a gorgeous guy!!!

Seriously, the only thing I would say about his conformation is that his head lacks refinement, and his neck is thick, particularly at the throatlatch. Certainly nothing to worry about.

JustDressageIt, what are you seeing that makes you think the saddle doesn't fit properly? I'm just curious 'cause I can usually only tell about that if I've actually got my hands on the horse!! LOL Guess I'm more of a hands-on girl???

Enjoy your beautiful new boy, Sarah!! Post more pics once you get him in shape. It would be fun to compare the before and after.

Skeeter, it doesn't appear level (the cantle is higher than the pommel) which would lead to pinching of the withers and shoulders. If this is the case, then with someone in the saddle it would just be compounded.
