Critique Some Pics from a Show!

Here's a pic from my show I went to. My mom didn't get any pics of the performance classes (she got vids though!), so I just picked the best one from games :)
If you could critique my EQ it would be appreciated!

Ik, it's in Egg and Spoon, but this is basically how I always ride. Except on a looser rein, and with my right hand instead of my left ;)... Is it just me or does the saddle look too far on his withers??
Yeah, and I can't figure out what gait he's in, but I'm just going to guess it's in between a trot and a canter ;)
Thanks in advance!! :)

Yeah, the saddel looks like it's tipping down on his withers. He is super downhill in his movement. The back of the saddle is coming up off his body. Check the saddle fit.

You look good. Your torso is aligned over your hips and your leg drapes nicely.
DoubleS likes this.

That's what I thought too.. I'm searching for a new saddle at the moment!
And I agree, in this picture he does look very heavy on the forehand.
Fortunately, that isn't how he usually moves, and it is just an overall awkward picture on his part . Heck, it was probably my fault!
Thank you so much for the crit! appreciated

You seriously do have good alignment. I don't see that all too often in western riders. It looks like you have your torso muscles engaged keeping yourself upright and carrying yourself right over your own seat. And NOT braced into the stirrups. Makes yourself easy to carry from the horse;s point of view. If you can roll your feet so they are a tad more parallel to the horse, that is even better.

Have you taken lessons?

Thank you!! :) I definitely think riding English on the side has helped my western equitation A TON.
I try to get a lesson out of everything/everyone that I can . My trainer lives 2 hours away, so I only take a lesson when I really need to fix something with me/my horse, which ends up being 2-3 times a year. So I don't really take regular lessons.
