    Critique us--English Pleasure

This is me and my aunt's National Show Horse Southern Grace. I LOVE this horse and wanted to know what critique you guys have for me on a calm English horse . Grace is an English Pleasure horse. I have a video but it's ona disk so I can't upload it to my computer, so I took screenshots of it.

If ur riding him hunter then id sugest to give him a little rane and let his neck go down a smidge. But as far as I can see he has great movment and you look great on him one tinny sugestion... you may find a hole longer stirrup would be more comfortable.. good luck!!! ;)

Yea I think the stirrups were too short by a bit, as a result I look a little like I have a chair seat. The rein length is what my aunt and uncle say is correct for her, she works best off the contact there.

What a sweet looking horse. Only comment from me is that you're sitting on your crotch which is probably contributing to the chair seat problem. If you rock back on your tush a little more you can open your hips better. I get hammered for this constantly in lessons so it stands out to me. I think you two look very lovely together, I see why you love this horse!

Well, he looks like a great mover, but if he is an "english pleasure" horse his head needs to be further down quite a bit. Loosen your reins and let him relax his pole (sp?) as well. It should be even with his withers, even a bit lower is fine.

    Sorelhorse,

I'm not sure what frame is considered appropriate for a National Show Horse; but I'm pretty sure it's not the same frame that's considered appropriate for a Quarter Horse or Paint.

Bear in mind that a NSH is a cross between an Arabian and an American Saddlebred; their necks tie into their shoulders differently and they tend to have higher head carriage.
