Not bad! The clarity of the video makes it hard for me to see details like the position of your hands and feet. You look like you are doing a bit of "pumping" at the canter. Kind of doing the work for the horse a wee bit. But, all in all, you got a pretty nice seat and fairly steady hands.

Next will come your ability to get a bit more energy out of the horse and manage its' bend, and make circles and other changes of direction.

Good Work.

Thanks, I don't know why is looks like I was "pumping" because I'm pretty sure I wasn't, but I can see what you mean watching it. I'm wondering if it's because she's really hard to keep going. If I ride the more energetic horse next week I'll try to get a video, only problem is I can't sit her canter lol.

Pumping usually happens with the less energetic horse. How long have you been riding?

I started riding western at 12(14years ago), I taught myself how to ride so naturally I picked up a lot of bad habits. When I was 21 I stopped ridding when I got pregnant and then didn't have time. I finally started riding regularly again in January 2011, that is when I started taking English lessons and learning everything over again lol.

Oh I almost forgot, my instructor tells me that my saddle is a bit too big for me, it's a 17.5, she says I should ride in a 17 at most, I don't feel like it's too big tho.

Don't mine my filthy breaches, I had been rubbing my horse and apparentky she was flithy(what horse isn't!) so I rubbed the dirt on my pants

Lolll your trainer would annoy me :p

You looked wonderful!! I couldn't tell so well from the video but how was your contact on the reins in canter? I might be seeing things but they looked too long at times and your hands did not seem to be following the head movements
Could be wrong, the video quality made it hard to see it

I agree. Your saddle is too big. I think you are not a tall person, right? The size of saddle is based more on the length of the femur than on the size of your hiney.

As for dirty breeches, you would cringe to see mine.
Kayty likes this.

lol why would my trainer annoy you? There is one trainer around me who I was considering taking lessons from and I decided against it because of how she talked, I watched her teach one and she baby talked to you the whole lesson. It would have drove me insane! This trainer is normally pretty quite, she was pretty excited that I made it 3 laps around when normally I have trouble getting 1 lap. My rein contact could probably be better, I'm still not completely secure at the canter so if I lose my balance the slightest bit and put pressure on the reins she will stop(as she should) so I figured a little less contact would help eliminate that problem until I get better.

I guess it's time to saddle shop once again I do really like this saddle tho! Maybe I can trade it for the same kind in a 17". I'm only 5'4 but I've been told I have a longish femur. I'm hoping to reduce the size of the but I've lost 9lbs since June
