    Foal Critique

Could someone give me a rough critique on this 6 month old Appendix filly? I know you can't judge a ton and the pictures are rough but looking for the basics or anything majorly out of place. Looking for a low h/j prospect (probably 3 ft at most) she should mature to 16hh or better (dam was 17hh that did level 3 dressage and level 5 jumping, sire was 16hh working cow QH). ((The last one is just because it's cute lol))

I do feel her pasterns are really upright (especially the rear) but I'm unsure how much that will effect her in the future.

Is there any way you can enlarge these pictures?

I think it looks like a lovely little foal, you can't really tell at this age, no serious problems jump out at me.

That's about the best I can do for enlarging without it getting entirely pixelated.

Her neck, butt and back legs look a little weird to me. But there is still SOOO much growing to do, it's really hard for me to say anything for sure as I don't have enough experience to base off of. I think she looks adorable though, and LOVE how perky she seems =^^=

...I don't see anything that jumps out as wrong to me... But it's unfair to judge any horse when they're that young. You're right, her pasterns do look a bit upright, but again, she's super young and she's got tons and tons of growing to do. Chances are, she'll grow out of it. Cocoa had long, tall pasterns when she was a foal, now they're relatively short. Horses change so much - even from when they're 6 months to a year. One thing I will say is that she's really really CUTE! :)

Thanks guys. I'm really stuck here as I was set on that arabian colt and now am looking at this girl instead. I am driving out this weekend to check her out but overall have a better feeling about her. She's been handled considerably more and there is quite a price difference.

I liked the arabian colt more than this girl, but maybe that's just me!
