this is Jet, he i s my barrel horse and best friend! i have had him since he was 4 years old.he is 12 this year. He didnt want to sit still for pics but i got a couple of good ones. He is a 1/2 Quarter Horse and 1/2 TB.
I am horrible at confo critique and I know nothing about western horses but the underside of his neck is really over developed. Maybe that's the way barrel horses need to use themselves but if not I would really work on his top line, getting him to use himself better.
im not sure..it may be from lack of riding..i was pregnant for 3 years so he has been out in a pasture....so we are just getting back to riding full time...thanks though..ill work on that
He's a bit butt-high, & I agree. Working on the topline would be good!!
I'd like to see some more muscles (groundwork & hillwork is good for that) but otherwise he is very cute!! Nice boy you got there.
His back legs are poorly built. His hooves are way too far under him. His neck needs conditioning and his butt peaks and slopes far too sharply to the dock of his tail.
Basically his back legs are not a straight as I would like to see them. You should be able to draw a straight line from his rear to the ground and his legs should match up nicely with that line. His are too far underneath him.
thanks!! that is one of the main reasons i came here...i can ride hell bent for leather but i dont know the first thing about technical stuff...I figured if i knew more about what i was riding i could probably ride a heck of a lot better! so here i am!!
